Why I Started DC GALS
One girl, one idea,
one big city.
In May 2024, I moved back home to D.C. after graduating from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Like so many women in their 20s, I quickly realized how challenging it can be to meet new people and build meaningful friendships post-college. Missing the easy social connections of campus life, I decided to create what I couldn’t find: a space for women like me to connect, explore, and feel less alone in the city.
So DC GALS Take on DC was born in December 2024. What began as a simple idea — brunch meetups, hot girl walks, and hangouts — has grown into a fast-growing community where friendships are formed and local recommendations are shared.
I started DC GALS Take on DC as its only member, and it’s since blossomed into a go-to space for women across the city to come together, support one another, and have fun.
